mothers day gift guide

With Mother's Day less than a week away it's time to start thinking of a special gift that will show mom just how amazing she is. Let's face it...there is no better time to spoil mom than now stuck in quarantine! Mom's everywhere have been adapting to a new norm with their kids and have had to be mom, home school teacher, continue to work either from home or at their workplace, some with little to no support so let's show mom a little extra love that she deserves! take a look at the mother's day gift guide (quarantine edition) to give you some ideas and support some of your local businesses!

-flowers with an added touch:
so many possibilities here! if classic flowers are your gift of choice; why not give them in a cute and trendy vase or mug so she doesn't have to look for a vase to put them in? not only will she enjoy the flowers for the time being, but she gets to use the vase or mug for future use. One way the vase (pictured below) can be used is a makeup brush holder on her vanity or the mug can be used for her favorite drink (moms are fueled on coffee aren't they?) It's like two gifts in one!

Bonus**you can have floral delivered from many opened floral boutiques if you are gifting to a mom that does not live with you because social distancing must be practiced here!

Another floral option is a long lasting rose jewelry box. These real roses have been treated so they look fresh for a year (or more) and are displayed in beautiful acrylic boxes to store her favorite keepsakes or jewelery.

-breakfast/lunch/dinner ANYTHING! since being home, many have been cooking and cleaning around the kitchen NON STOP! why not treat mom to a catered in meal or meal kit so the whole family can enjoy without having to worry about the prep and much of the clean up involved with a home cooked meal. You are also supporting your local restaurants or caterers who have had to adjust their services and have moved to delivery or curbside pick up only.

-giftcard: if you know of a place your mom enjoys, get her a giftcard she can use there once stores reopen and she is able to go out and physically shop. She can also have the option of using it online if she chooses and it is available. One of my favorites is the Happy Her giftcard. It's one card that gives you options at several retailers or restaurants such as Hudson's Bay, Indigo/Chapters, Roots and Milestones just to name a few. I know when I've gotten this card, it's used within the first month (if not the first week) of receiving it. Sending an e-giftcard to many retailors is also a great option in these times!

-personalized puzzle: looking to pick up a hobby or an activity to do while we are staying home? a personalized puzzle of the grandkids or mom's family would work here! I'm sure it would bring her much satisfaction and joy to see the completed picture! She can also display it as I'm sure she won't want to take it apart once completed!

-Revlon one step hair drying and volumizer: At first I didn't think I needed this tool; I mean I have a blow dryer and a round brush isn't it the same thing? but upon seeing many women rave about it through instagram and when it was featured on the Marilyn Denis show as being comparable to the much more expensive Dyson brand, I had to give it a try (thanks to my mother in law as a Christmas gift!) well let me say it did not disappoint! It styles in half the time and looks like a salon blow out! if you can't go to the salon, bring the salon to mom this Mother's Day! a fresh blowout really does change your mood!

Rose Quartz Roller and Gua Sha: This at home treatment is soothing and pampering. The cooling sensation of the roller and gua sha has many benefits to the skin such as lifting and promoting drainage and leaves you feeling a little more relaxed.

Pajamas/Loungewear: You don't need to sacrifice style for comfort. These cute avocado print pajamas are perfect for the avocado lover in your life and the pink is also fresh for spring. There are so many cute prints to find if avocados aren't quite mom's thing.

Jewelery: you can never have enough! supporting Canadian local brand Biko and Glitz Jewelery Boutique with gorgeous pieces from their collection (that mom can add to her acrylic rose jewelery box mentioned above *wink wink* )

If you are looking for a more personalized piece, check out Glitz Jewelery Boutique. You can go timeless or you can go with a trendy piece; whatever suits mom's style.

-ANYTHING HANDMADE FROM THE KIDS/GRANDKIDS- This is a big one. All mom's want is to be happy and healthy; especially in this trying time and if the kids are good, the family is good, mom is good too. Have the kids create something (as simple as a card) that mom can cherish.

-Some Alone Time:
You mean that mom doesn't want to see the kids? wait... didn't you say that anything from the kids is the perfect gift? Let's not forget that maybe mom just wants a few moments to herself since she's been surrounded by chaos these last few weeks (if not more). Just that little bit of me time can be all she needs to feel re-energized!

I hope these suggestions help narrow it down but remember, you know your mom best so if there's something you know she'll appreciate, do it! For me, I just want a day to sleep in!

Above all, show mom or the special mother figure in your life the love they deserve and thank them for all they do!

Happy Mother's Day!
